API TSS/Cargo System

Cargo control system for tankers
To exploit a tanker’s capacity to the full, it is important to ensure the loading and unloading of cargo is carried out in a fast and reliable way. Modern cargo control systems must be able to fill the vessel’s tanks to the maximum while at the same time preventing spills. By using advanced technology, the API TSS/Cargo system is able to accomplish fast and reliable cargo handling, as well as the cargo’s safe storage.

The API TSS/Cargo Control System calculates mass and volume of all types of liquid cargo. The calculations are based on information from various sensors placed in the cargo and ballast tanks, manifolds and from draught positions. Data from the sensors are transmitted to a computer where the calculations are carried out by the designated API MasterLOAD™ software. This programme is developed especially for on-board operations and can be used online with the sensors as well as off-line for cargo planning.

The API TSS/Cargo System meets all IMO and US Coast Guard requirements for oil tankers. These requirements include weight calculations of stored and released oil products with necessary precision.

System components
API Marine can provide the entire system –from sensors in the tank, operator stations to the calculation software. The cargo and ballast information in the TSS/Cargo system is based on information from various sensors:

• Tank Gauging Device (TGD)
• Liquid Level Switch (UTS) / Tank Level Alarm (TLA)
• Ballast and Manifold Sensors
• Draught Sensor
